This Month at ANIO, we honor Dr. Karl Nath.

Dr Nath is a physician-scientist and nephrologist whose research interests center on adaptive responses to pathways of injury in the vasculature and kidney.  Within this general area of research, his specific emphasis centers on adaptive and maladaptive responses in the arteriovenous fistula, induction of heme oxygenase as a protective response, and the pathogenesis of kidney injury in sickle cell disease.

Dr Nath’s accomplishments are both exemplary and varied.. He is currently a Professor of Medicine and Physiology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Associate Dean, Office of Intellectual Property at the Mayo Clinic. A graduate of the Univesity of Edinburgh in Scotland, he has been continuously funded by the NIH for — years and has over 100 peer reviewed publications. He has been listed as the Best Doctors in  America for the past ten years. He has also served as editor for many Nephrology journals including AJKD, JASN and now is the Associate editor for the American Journal of Physiology (Renal Physiology).
