Outstanding Trainee Award.  

The Kaushal family is honored to name this award in loving memory of Gur P. Kaushal, Ph.D. Dr. Kaushal was a dedicated and well accomplished scientist in the area of kidney disease.

ANIO is happy to announce this year’s awardee to be Dr Tanuja Yalamarti

Dr. Tanuja Yalamarti is a Nephrology Critical Care fellow at Stanford University. She trained in the NHS(National Health Service) of United Kingdom and worked as a Nephrology Registrar after graduating from medical school in India. She subsequently pursued Internal Medicine residency at the Pennsylvania hospital of UPenn where she was the recipient of “Resident of the year” award in recognition of her diligent clinical work. This was succeeded by a Nephrology fellowship at Stanford. While focused on developing skills to be a well-rounded clinician, she developed an interest in uremic solutes that contribute to illness in renal disease. She has worked on projects studying small solutes, other than urea and their dialytic clearance by different renal replacement therapies using mass spectrometry. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at both national and international conferences. Her long-term academic interest is in research projects centered on studying organic solute and drug clearances in the realm of AKI and CRRT in the ICU.
