ANIO Award for Service Excellence 2022

ANIO congratulates Dr Vineeta Kumar for the Service Excellence for 2022.
Vineeta Kumar, M.D., F.A.S.T. is a Professor of Medicine, Robert and Cutessa Bourge Endowed Professor in Transplant Nephrology and the Medical Director of the Incompatible Solid Organ Transplant Program for the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is the lead nephrologist for UAB’s Living Donor Transplant Program and UAB’s Xenotransplantation efforts. Dr. Kumar is an exemplary clinician, a superb educator and is the awardee many wonderful accolades to include the Brewer Heslin award for professionalism, Cobb Rutsky Award for Clinical Excellence for ten consecutive years, Argus Award for Best Educator in Nephrology and both Dean’s and Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching. Her mission is to improve the care and outcome of living organ donors and the medically complex transplant patient through direct care, education, and clinical research. Dr. Kumar is the current chair of the ASN COVID-19 Response Team Transplant Subcommittee and Cutting Edge in Organ Transplantation (CEoT) meeting and is an elected member of the AST Board of Directors.
